Located in Toronto’s beautiful Annex neighbourhood, Women’s Art Association of Canada (WAAC) is a not-for-profit, member-supported, charitable organization dedicated to assisting and encouraging Canadian artists. (Membership).
Over its 132-year history WAAC has served as a haven for visual artists, musicians, writers and devotees of the arts — a place where like-minded people can meet in a welcoming environment.
The mandate at WAAC is to advance education in the visual, musical and performance arts through the funding of scholarships, offering arts education to the public, and the provision of space for artists to present their artistic work.
Since 1948 WAAC has offered a scholarship program to students in the arts. Currently WAAC funds 14 scholarships at six leading arts organizations that include OCADU, U of T Faculty of Music, Royal Conservatory’s GGS, Sheridan College, George Brown College, Ryerson U, Canada’s National Ballet. (Scholarships).
The heart of WAAC is a charming 19th century house that backs onto a lovely formal garden. The main entrance opens up into the Mary Dignam Gallery, a large, attractive room that hosts openings, receptions and, of course, members’ art exhibitions. It is also the venue for our lectures on the arts and concerts. Many of these events are open to the public.
Interested in booking our galleries, rooms, garden, for an exhibition, event or wedding, please see Rentals and we look forward to seeing you around the house.
