Lennox Hourd, Mary

Artist Bio:

I have enjoyed a career as a commissioned portrait painter. The magnetic draw toward drawing, painting, sketching, and sculpting is something that completes me. Portraying the essence of the human spirit through communication and understanding of my subject is key in my work. It is together we share the experience. My artistic journey also includes all other artistic disciplines such as still life, figurative studies, landscapes, abstracts while exploring new and exciting options.

Through the tutelage of my wonderful Teachers and Mentors, and a vast artistic community, I have been exposed to their generosity and to the best of their creative skills and knowledge. I thank them with all sincerity.  They have taught me most importantly that one art form feeds and nourishes all others. “Think like a Sculptor” was the advice my Mentor Cleeve Horne gave me many years ago. “Light is everything!”

Art is a gift we give ourselves to be shared and enjoyed. I believe that there is a gift in all of us, starting with putting down a colour, and appreciating the gift we have just begun to give ourselves.
