Art as I do it

Upon reflection I have always painted whatever subject catches my eye at the moment. Very little of my work is planned apart from portraits and my bird paintings, with the focus mostly on pleasing subjects. I love nature in all its forms: plant life, animal life, from countryside to ocean or lake. The occasional piece has a touch of whimsy. Away from home I always have my small sketchbook and watercolour set at hand, later transferring the rough work to canvass or paper. I work in oil, acrylic and pastel, the latter especially for birds and flowers.
Sculpture has been my second delight working both in cast pieces and carved stone, giving the occasional lecture and demo today at the Women’s Art Association of Canada. Art in all its forms is an everlasting joy.
