Artist Bio
Ailene Vrana MacDougall is a mixed-media abstract artist based in Innisfil, Ontario. Born in Toronto, she creates vibrant, layered works that explore energy, movement, and emotion through bold colour, texture, and intuitive mark-making. Her art often features recurring motifs—circles, stripes, and organic forms—that evoke both structure and spontaneity, mirroring the balance between intention and serendipity in her creative process. She creates vibrant contemporary art for the vibrant soul. She brings a thoughtful awareness to her practice; her compositions often reference natural rhythms and the invisible systems that connect people and places. Using acrylics, collage, and gel mediums, she builds dynamic surfaces that invite viewers to look closely and find their own meaning within the layers. Her studio practice includes several ongoing series, with each exploring the intersection of intuition, balance, and joy. Her work has been exhibited in juried shows across Canada and the U.S., including the Marco Island National Fine Art Show, the Women’s Art Association of Canada, and the Loft Gallery in Thornbury, ON. Through her paintings, Ailene aims to create visual moments of connection—where colour, motion, and curiosity converge. When she’s not in the studio, she brings her same creative spirit to travel, golf, and community leadership, finding inspiration in every new horizon.
