Artist Bio

Artist Biography: Brenda Brown Since she was very young, Brenda loved creating art. She is self-taught and enjoys working with a variety of mediums including acrylic, oils, watercolour, scratchboard art, alcohol inks, coloured pencils and mixed media. Brenda enjoys participating in several art associations: Harbourside Painters of Canada - member for 7 years and Vice President for 1 year Fine Arts America -member for 15 years and featured artist several times The Women’s Art Association of Canada – Brenda’s art can be seen in the Dignam Gallery various times throughout the year Arts on the Credit – Member participating in various tours, art drives and virtual tours and gallery shows V.A.M. - Visual Arts Mississauga - Past Member participating in various exhibitions Clarkson Society of Artist Brenda has had many solo gallery shows including Women’s Art Association of Canada, Ruth Upjohn Gallery, Arts on the Credit Virtual Gallery solo show during Covid, and Unitarian Congregation 3 times (Mississauga). Brenda has also participated in many group shows. Brenda’s work has been chosen for many juried shows and many of her pieces hang in several international locations. Two of her mixed media pieces were chosen for a juried show in Seoul Korea with the theme being “Global Warming”. Brenda created 2 amazing pieces using plastic caps from milk cartons (keeping plastic out of landfills) for the centre of her flowers and both pieces sold. Brenda feels very passionate about using landfill items in her mixed media art to do her small part to help with global warming and the environment. As a piece of Art that piece of plastic will live on for generations. Lady Bug Lady Bug where are you? 12 x 20 Mixed Media. This is one of my pieces that I use recycled plastic to keep plastic out of landfills. The centre of the flower is a plastic cap from cream carton. When you screw off the cap you will find a lady bug 🐞 to surprise the viewer under the cap.

An Article about my mixed media pieces that were in the gallery HelloSpace in Seoul Korea. The show was to bring awareness to Global Warming and Environmental Pollutants. Plastic was one of my mediums and both pieces sold.

My Secret Garden, Mixed Media Alcohol Ink and Stamping The background was achieved using alcohol ink. If you zoom in and look real close you will see lady bugs, flowers, hummingbirds and other things found in the garden.
