Artist Bio
Neema Lakin-Dainow is inspired by art in all its forms. She has a B.A. in Art History from the University of Wisconsin (Madison), along with studies in animation at Simon Fraser University, painting at OCAD, printmaking at Haliburton School of the Arts, and computer art at The Toronto Adult School of Art. Neema has a EdD from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education and has designed courses combining art and learning for both teachers and students. Her vibrant mixed-media works meld photography, painting, and printmaking, which are printed on a variety of surfaces including plexiglass, metal, canvas, and paper. Neema’s art has been exhibited in international collections including shows at the the Women’s Art Association of Canada, Stuart Jackson Fine Art Gallery (2023, 2024), the Canada Contact Festival (2025, 2024), the Art Box Projects in Zurich and Barcelona (2021, 2022), The Bologna Children's Book fair and the Venice Biennale (2020). Her artwork has also been featured in The Scarborough Big Art Book, the children’s book Olka and Her Blue Parasol, and The Artful Cookbook, a project highlighting art created by unhoused youth in Toronto. As well, Neema’s paintings have been acquired by Art for Cancer and are displayed in several hospitals.
