Dianne Segger

Diane currently lives in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada after spending the majority of her life living and working in Northwestern Ontario and Manitoba.   Throughout her working career Diane dreamed of the day when she could devote more time to her passion for painting.  It has only been since retiring from full time employment in 2010 that she has been able to follow her dream and fully embrace her artistic talents.  Her enthusiasm of art has encouraged others to continue to discover and pursue their artistic talents.

In the quest to fulfill her passion, Diane has studied art with various instructors in both Manitoba and Ontario.  She currently takes every opportunity she can to paint in her studio, with other artists as well as with several art groups.   Diane is a member of the Women’s Art Association of Canada, Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda, Florida, Parkway Artists Guild, Niagara and a past member of Visual Arts Mississauga and the Mississauga Art Society.  She also chairs the PPYC Art Committee.

Many of her current works have been inspired by her love of and fascination with nature and water in particular.  Her brush expresses the magic of its ever moving reflections and ongoing mysteries.  She has developed the ability to capture its depth and personality, making her subjects both unique and intriguing.

Her watercolour Flutterby Series depicts life changing experiences – openness, freedom, beauty, love, continuous evolution and change as the Flutterby’s colour evolves.

Diane paints primarily with acrylics, oils and watercolours but has also experimented with soapstone carving, glass fusion and clay. A recent focus has been shell art sculptures and painting on three dimensional found natural objects such as palm fronds and seed pods.

Diane has entered many juried art shows.   Her painting, “Flashing By” was selected by  Visual Arts Mississauga for exhibit at the Mississauga Central Library for two months during the Pan Am Games.  In the fall of 2016, “Spirit” was awarded the “People’s Choice Award” at a juried show in Florida.  Her work is currently exhibited in collections in Canada, the UK and the United States.  It is also for sale in galleries in Mississauga and St. Catharines.  She has completed a number of commissioned pieces, mostly of customer’s favorite boats as well as sculptures for homes and corporations.

The Segger Studio is open by appointment and features many interesting originals.  Browsing her website presents another great opportunity to enjoy her work.
