Originally from Toronto, Ont., Gretchen Jeens majored in Drawing and Painting, graduating with a BFA degree from OCAD University in 2009. She draws inspiration from the beauty of nature with a focus on exploring the complexities and experience of women through Figurative painting. Working comfortably in oil, acrylic, Watercolour, pencil and pen, she achieved a whimsicality in the application of the chosen medium while delighting in the physical and emotional act of painting.
Earning many prestige awards, her work has appeared in juried shows, group, and solo exhibitions including those of Artworld Fine Art Gallery, the Auburn Gallery of Fine Art, the Buckingham Fine Art Gallery, the annual TWAC CNE exhibition of Fine Art, the Women’s Art Association of Canada, OCAD University, the Society of Canadian Artists, the annual fall exhibition and sale at the McMichael Gallery in Kleinburg, Ont., the Varley Gallery in Unionville, the AWOL Gallery in Toronto, and the annual spring show and sale of the Muskoka Arts and Crafts. Her worked is privately owned internationally.
She is currently represented by the Artworld Fine Art Gallery in Toronto, the Auburn Gallery of Fine Art in Muskoka, and the Buckingham Gallery of Fine Art in Uxbridge
