Rhythmic lines, textured surfaces, dark-light passages, these are all part of Nature’s handwriting. They stand out as design features in the vast landscape that surrounds me in southern New Mexico This is what dominates my work. Light and Colour….As a colourist, my palette keeps expanding. Mine is often a full spectrum palette. Skies remain expansive, swirled through by clouds, or are perfectly clear. Pink morning skies can turn mellow mango by sundown. Textured surfaces abound throughout the landscape; so my method of layered, thick impasto surfaces play a key role in portraying this tactile aspect of Nature.

My landscapes are not intended to be specific places. They are painted poems or wanderings that reflect a specific moment in time. Nature is treated semi abstractly to suggest different locales, times of day, and seasons. Sometimes an element of fantasy comes through in an imaginary colour scheme, or in an aerial perspective. My images evolve intuitively.

For the viewer, often a personal narrative ensues from these images. All the composite elements in each painting are intentional and meant to transport the viewer to a place of imagining that only he or she knows.
