Gaye Jackson’s photo-based practice is focused on environmental history, geology, and land use. In her work she uncovers stories and histories contained within objects and their environment.

Her Erratic series includes images of rocks that were plucked and transported by the glacier then dropped as the ice sheet melted. These boulders often appear out-of-context to their surroundings and are an archive of geologic time and history. Recently she has been working with graphite, Sumi ink and hand-made Japanese paper to reveal markings on bedrock caused by earth stresses and ice.

She will speak about the Erratic project and the processes of discovery, learning, and challenges in her art practice.
