Artist Hand Winter/Spring 2020 Workshop Series

Fridays from 1-4pm except for January 10th.

January 10—Susan Farquhar

*Chine Collé, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Add this unique technique to your printmaking skills or revisit the technique to see creative possibilities.
Participants will learn the process of chine collé using different adhesive pastes and a variety of papers.


February 14—Valentina Hotz

Egg Tempera for Beginners
Egg tempera is an ancient medium that reached its peak during the Renaissance, and has the capacity to produce
jewel-like paintings. Participants will learn the basic techniques of preparing paints and working with this vivid medium.

March 13—Antony MacGinnis

Coloured Pencil
Artists who would like to expand their skills to include this challenging medium will learn practical tips for coloured pencil artwork. Demonstrations and exercises will inspire your creative process. Materials fee for coloured pencils.

April 17—Jocelyn Shaw

Introduction to Sculpture
This workshop includes two parts: (1) learning about the history of sculpture from prehistoric times to present, and
(2) exploring the two basic forms of sculpture—building up a piece with material and, the opposite, reduction by carving or chipping away. Examples and materials for both processes will be on hand.

Creative Photography Workshop
Develop your creative vision and expand knowledge and expertise with creative tools, including software and
everyday items. This hands-on workshop provides the opportunity to put theory into practice and exchange ideas with others. All levels of participants are welcome and all image-taking equipment can be used: camera or phone, iPad or computer or phone, iPad or computer. Spend an enjoyable afternoon learning, creating, and sharing.

Cost per workshop: $15 for members, $20 for non-members (pay at the door)
Note that each workshop will have small class size.
