January 16—Heather Gentleman
Ether: Flow and the Muse
Artist-in-residence Heather will discuss her process of creating a body of work and how the role of the muse comes into play. From being in the flow in a state of receptiveness to research, writing and using references, she will discuss the symbiotic interaction of all facets of creation.
February 20—Janne Reuss
The Creative Process
The creative process is multilayered. It takes deep work and courage to commit to this activity, but the journey is also magical. In this lecture, the artist will peel off the many layers and make them visible through her own work.
The Space Invaders of Durham Region
A recession in the 1990s created an opportunity to exhibit art in vacant spaces in Oshawa, with artists given unprecedented access. This created a mini-renaissance in art-making activity, where Steven, a multimedia artist and promoter of local culture was the driving force for these annual festivals.
