September 19 – Jack Gilbert
The Power of Photoshop
Photoshop has developed into one of the most important software programs of our era, even becoming a verb. Gilbert, photographer and member of the Society of Canadian Artists, will demonstrate its power through slides and samples.


October 17 – Judith Tinkl
Wild Tinkls
For fifty-two years Viktor and Judith Tinkl have pursued their artwork in their own directions but in a harmonious and mutually supportive way. This is a brief look into how their work in diverse media has evolved and how their environment was a big part of it. THeir Sunderland home and gallery showcases Judith’s use of quilt making as a fine art form and Viktor’s development of their property into a living and evolving sculpture. Now, son Nicholas adds his photographic art to the gallery.

Overlooked: Canadian Art in The Shining
Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 horror classic The Shining is a covert foray into Canadian art history. Dozens of familiar and not-so-familiar paintings have been spotted on the set of the haunted alpine hotel. Artist and Whitby Station Gallery Curator reveals his independent research into Canadian artistic content hidden-in-plain-sight in Kubrick’s cinematic masterpiece.
