Carol was born in Germany and emigrated with her family to Canada when she was still a toddler. For most of her life she grew up in Toronto. She went to the University of Guelph where she was enrolled in Family Studies and met her husband, Kevin. After graduation they were married and Carol continued her education at U. of T. where she earned her teaching degree. For the next 40 years she taught in elementary schools and raised three children. She started her career teaching Family Studies and guidance to middle school children and after that she moved on to a Junior school where she taught grades 4 and 5. In her last five teachers she became the school librarian and art teacher. Her passion for children's literature and her love of art made the last five years of her career her most enjoyable. Largely self taught as an artist, Carol started painting in the year 2000 and hasn't stopped.
Carol started her art journey with watercolour, learning from other artists and teachers in night school classes, and went on to experiment with collage, printmaking, and acrylics. Today she works mostly with abstract mixed media and takes numerous on-line classes. She likes to describe her process as intuitive, never knowing where the art will take her. In the last two years her husband has joined her and started making his own art.
Artist Statement: My motto has always been to make the most out of life and continue to learn new things, experiment and play. Live, Love and Learn.
