Sun Sister, Kobe

by Karen Perlmutter

As a photographer, it is my responsibility to capture moments that captivate the spirit; moments that I see and feel.

There is an area in Kobe Japan known as Museum Road. It is situated just south of the Hyōgo Prefectural Museum of Art. I was wandering along the road with my son, trying to absorb every moment we had together. In the distance I saw a giant statue of a cartoon character with enormous eyes, wearing a metallic dress and matching boots. Her long black hair snaking behind her. I was shocked by the size of the statue and how the light reflected off every angle of the metal, giving the statue an other-worldly feel to it. I walked under it and around it, trying to find the perfect angle to photograph it.
