WAAC member Gretchen Jeens was chosen to exhibit two paintings at the Markham Group of Artists Windows Open Virtual Juried Art Exhibition 2020.

Juror’s comments: I have placed these two together as ONE for an Honourable Mention. I felt that they could not be separated. They are an original and different approach to the traditional “portrait” and both evoke the feeling that their respective names impart. The paper used to construct the pieces fit together beautifully. The simple line work and few characteristic features give us exactly what we need to enjoy these delightful paintings. They are fresh and alive and inventive. They invite meaning and arouse emotion. They were a treat to find and congratulations on delivering such simply gorgeous art pieces. gret.ourhouse@sympatico.ca
