The Women’s Art Association of Canada (WAAC) is a charitable arts organization created by women for women, for the purpose of encouraging their interest and participation in the arts, and to foster the exchange of ideas and collaboration among it’s 220 plus active members and over 6,000 social media followers. Furthering its core values, WAAC proudly supports emerging artists through scholarships awarded to art students of all genders studying visual art, theatre, music and ballet. Founded in 1887 by Mary Ella Dignam, a pioneering Canadian painter and teacher, WAAC has been proudly rooted in a heritage home on Prince Arthur Avenue since 1916. Our unique Dignam Gallery is home to monthly rotating exhibitions that are free, and open to the public year-round.
