Artist Bio
Laura is an award-winning, internationally recognized visual fine artist whose practice bridges Eastern and Western traditions. Her two-dimensional works fuse Chinese Brush Painting and Sumi-e rice and washi papers with contemporary Western mixed-media acrylic abstraction, creating a thoughtful dialogue between cultures, materials, and visual language. Her work is held in private and permanent collections worldwide, including Africa, China, Mexico, France, and throughout the USA and Canada. Laura has served as Former President and Director of the North America Branch of the International Chinese Calligraphy & Ink Painting Society (ICCPS NA) and has juried for the Society of Canadian Artists, adjudicating contemporary and abstract works. Her honours include First Place (The Ruth Yamada Award) from the Sumi-e Artists of Canada (2024), multiple Awards of Excellence from the ICCPS in Tokyo, Japan, and the 2017 Marty Award for Established Visual Fine Artist from the Mississauga Arts Council. A sought-after speaker, Laura also coaches artists on the business of art.
