Ulla Djelweh

Artist Bio

Ulla is a multidisciplinary artist and graduate of the Ontario College of Art's Interdisciplinary Studies program. Her Practice spans drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, and mixed media. She draws inspiration from the beauty of everyday objects and moments, where colour, shape, and line-often transformed by shifting light and reflection–become catalysts for new work. Embracing chance and the unexpected, Ulla’s creative process is a dynamic interplay between intention and discovery. At times, her work also engages with current social and political themes, reflecting a deep awareness of the world around her. Artist Statement: As a passionate traveler, I find endless inspiration in the world’s diverse cultures, landscapes, and ecosystems. My journeys awaken curiosity and wonder, continually fuelling my artistic vision. Through immersive experiences, I collect memories, sketches, and photographs that later emerge as visual narratives. These works explore the relationship between the natural and built environment, the endurance of indigenous cultures, and the delicate interconnectedness of our planet. My art celebrates the transformative power of travel and calls attention to the urgency of environmental stewardship. By sharing my experiences, I hope to foster a deeper appreciation for the world’s beauty, complexity and fragility.
